The most welcoming, warm, and loving Albright event in quite a while, the Black History Month dinner brought together students, several revered Alumni, and some lucky staff and faculty to forge connections that will persist long after the last dance. Van Gilyard '14 recalled his family's commitment to the study of Black history in Central Pennsylvania, and lifted us all with an invocation of the late Jesse Jackson. Chef Daryl fed body and soul with fried chicken, cabbage, black-eyed peas, candied yams, macaroni, and banana pudding. He may be employed by Aramark, but he works for our students. They, in turn, showered him with a thunderous standing ovation. And Xion initiated a dance that didn't want to end. I'm grateful that I was there.
