One of the day's highlights was a lecture by returning alumnus David C. Schultz, '91, Ph.D., Director, Protein Production, Libraries & Molecular Screening Laboratory at The Wistar Institute in Philadelphia, America's oldest biomedical research institute and a leading center for cancer research. David was an outstanding student at Albright, a winner of the Gold A, and a member of the men's basketball team, and I detected an Albright personality in his achievements since. David coaches his kids' sports teams, and he and his fellow researchers at Wistar are battling for us all in a life and death contest. An overflow crowd of students filled the science lecture hall to hear David raise hopes for longer lives for cancer sufferers, and raise expectations for what they themselves, as Albrightians, might accomplish in the world.
