In pursuing my Summer ACRE project with Taylor Rae Cole - a "photo-graphic biography" of the Berks County painter Mary B. Leisz (1876-1935) - I've developed an approach to HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography, which I find well suited to the sort of images we want to produce. HDR Photography combines the information from multiple files of the same scene captured at different levels of exposure, allowing for a FAR WIDER range of darks and lights in same image. The Photomatix program allows one to combine all that information in a variety of effects. In these views of the central campus from the third floor of the Gingrich Library (looking up from the City Directories we were reading), I've gone with the look of a rather intense watercolor.
