The annual Faculty Retreat always comes during a week when we should be finishing syllabi for our Fall courses. It's an occasion to inject some freshly informed mindfulness into our work as teachers. For me, the thoughtful, charming faces of my colleagues, both new and familiar, have me ready for another academic year.
