With their violinist stranded in Texas by bad weather, the remaining members of the AYA Trio - Andres Sanchez Linares, cello, and Ying Li, piano - created a remarkably engaging outreach program, bringing 7th and 8th graders at Wilson West Middle School into a sophisticated consideration of the nitty gritty of interpreting Beethoven's Third Sonata for Piano and Cello. The students were absolutely game to appreciate and describe the subtleties of phrasing, dynamics, touch, tone, and story that these marvelous musicians brought to the art of chamber music.
